Here are some pics of the inside of the CAS , wasnt sure if it sould be in here ... or Picture post,
But does anyone know what actually stuffs up ??
and can they be repaired from home ??

if u loom at the pics the end of the cas(that sits on the exhaust cam drive)the end of the camshaft which drives this part breaks
a nissan master technician i work with said if u remove the cas and see mild rust/corossion its a very good sign it's on its way out

Although I have never seen inside one, the book I have discribes it as a plate with holes for transmit and recieve optos, one for timing degree (Ie: 360 hole for each degree).
As for the one plate with the four holes I can't remember what it said about it.
Servicing it from home would be I guess a bearing, ya 2 optos and maybe the connecting spline.
I would love to get hold of one and pull it apart.
