  • ECU - Diagnostic

    On NX/N14/N15 there is a diagnostic connector inside the fuse box(inside cabin) the one on the right-hand side of the dash.The Ignition should be turned to ON, but the engine should NOT be started.


    You have to make a jumper(paper clip or short piece of elect.wire with stripped ends etc.) and short connections A and B for at least 3 sec. with the ignition ON.The "Check Engine" light will start to flash.



    [The LED will start to display the code by a series of long flashes, followed by a series of short flashes. Your check engine light on the instrument cluster will also flash in the same sequence. This sequence will repeat.]

    Long/Short Flashes

    1,1 Crank angle sensor/circuit
    1,2 Mass airflow sensor/circuit
    1,3 Coolant temp sensor
    1,4 Vehicle speed sensor
    2,1 Ignition signal
    3,1 ECM control unit
    3,2 EGR function
    3,3 Oxygen sensor
    3,4 Knock sensor
    3,5 Exhaust gas temp sensor
    4,3 TPS - Throttle position sensor
    4,5 Injector leak
    5,5 (NORMAL SYSTEM OPERATION)

    To Clear The Error Codes, Just Repeat the First Step. With the Wire, and do it for about 3 secs, the Check engine light will now stay on. Do this with ignition On.

    Your ment to reset the ECU error codes by turning the switch on the ecu, this ways easier.

    I get a Code Error 3,4 which is Knock Sensor.
    Don't know if anyone mucks around with this? But im guessing this is the as getting nissan to plug in the nissan consult?

    Just to add to this, you can use this same method to check if your O2 sensor (the thing screwed into your headers/extractors) is working correctly. The steps are below:

    1) Get your car up to operating temp.
    2) Short connections A & B as before, but start your engine whilst doing this. This will change the diagnostic from SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS (ie error codes) to EXHAUST GAS SENSOR MONITOR mode.
    3) While in this mode, maintain 2,000 rpm under no-load. This means your engine will run in Closed Loop. Your check engine light (CEL) should start flashing on the dash.
    4) The way to interpret results are as follows:

    Normal operation = CEL flashes on and off more than 5 times in 10 seconds
    CEL Remains on or off = Running in Open Loop
    CEL On = Lean
    CEL Off = Rich
