Pulsar GTiR KNN14 type. I fitted these to my car Nov '07 and removed them when I sold the car Jan '12 so they were on the car for a bit over 4 years. They could do with a clean and there is some paint peeling off the front ones as the mounts for the brake lines needed to be bent for them to fit but they are in good working order. Car handles like it's on rails with these fitted.




I have one pair of rebuilt AD22VF calipers that were rebuilt when fitted and used for about 2 years. Comes with pads with about 50% left on them - $350
I have one pair of AD22VF calipers that haven't been rebuilt - $300
I have a pair of DBA slotted rotors to suit above calipers (DBA 901SL and DBA 901SR). These were on my EXA for the same 2 years as the calipers - $150
This brake setup, as anyone who has had it fitted will attest to, is amazing. You can stop on a dime. I also found you can tell easier where the lockup point it and hold it just on the threshold for faster braking.




I have a set of stock rims with Goodride SP06 195/60R14 tyres - $200
Need a bit of a clean. Two have had a nail in them but were repaired properly by tyre place with a plug. Over 70% left on them. These will fit over the calipers above.

It says '92 and up, but this '91 is an NX, like the 92's and 93's, definitely NOT the old "Pulsar NX"

Short version is this bone stock, 1 owner 105,000 mile NX 1600 cranks and runs about like new for 2 or 3 blocks and then begins to shake and rattle to the point where my wife says it is like being in a blender.

Get it on the freeway and going fast enough and suddenly it smooths out (around 70 mph or so). You don't have to be quite at WOT, but generally it is close to that, and it will smooth out in all (auto trans) gears at higher RPM's as well.

One shop blamed a bad fuel injector which did not fix it.
One shop blamed the spark plugs and engine tune. No help with that.
The distributor was blamed and changed. No improvement.
MAS Sensor was also blamed. Change it with no improvement.
It isn't the fuel. It has always had mid-grade or better. Only premium recently, all gas from reliable stations where we buy lots of gas for other cars. Never an issue. Figured maybe some water got in the gas somehow but fuel dryer was no help, and bad gas wouldn't smooth out at high RPM like this, or cause problems for over a year with gas flowing through the tank.

Seems like it has to be electronic Drive it maybe 30 seconds or a minute (or let it idle and heat up) and the rough running begins. Get it running fast and the problem clears. Slow down and it returns. Let it cool down (maybe 30 minutes or sometimes less) and it is smooth again, but only for a block or two.

I'm hoping someone has had this same situation and knows what sensor it probably is or that it is the ECM, etc. This has literally dragged out for over a year. I will say that it sat for probably 6 months or a year with VERY minimal use before I had the transmission rebuilt back in January 2011 and all these problems showed up around that time. In fact I asked the shop to tell me what it needed mechanically BEFORE I agreed to the transmission rebuild. The said they'd take care of it. That was shop 1 (fuel injector). I think the real problem is that nobody wants to work on this 21 year old car, but my wife bought it new and loves it. She wants it running properly again. I want a happy wife.

Many other ideas are on the table (basically every electronic part) but I'd rather do this in a logical order. Some shops suggested we rebuild the engine. Others checked and said good compression, no mechanical issues at all.

What do you think? Pretty frustrating, right?...
