    16s or 17s?

    Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting some new wheels for my ride. Does anyone have 16"or 17" wheels with 7" width AND is lowered? What size rims do you have and how much are you lowered? Also did you need to get your guards rolled? The NX's have slightly flared guards already, so I'm hoping the tyres would clear the guards with a 2" drop, or (unlikely) a 2.5" drop.
Also, what do you think I should get? 16's or 17's? I'd love to get 17's for the looks, but there's so many good points for the 16's:
    - they're legal (apart from the 7" width)
    - more tyre to absorb the bumps
    - less prone to getting buckled in Sydney roads
    - lighter = quicker acceleration
    - cheaper for both rims and when getting new tyres
I'd also run 205 width tyres no matter what size I go for, so there's no added traction of the 17's over the 16's. But NX's on 17's look hella sexy
Probably gonna get 2nd hand ones and powdercoat them charcoal or white.

    Cheers,
    Dac

    yeah sik is prob right.

I got 17x7's and my car is prob dropped just under 2inches. I have only ever scraped the inner guard at full lock lightly, but it depends on what rubber i have on.

ie i had Grid 3's never touched, now have Falkens, and they just touch.

You could always look at 18's.......

Ha! Say the two turbo's! I'd love to get 17's but n/a power is hard to come by and easy to lose with taller ratios and heavy wheels - and I can't afford the light jap wheels.

I guess what puts me off the most is insurance. No point getting wheels if it'll void my insurance. Not really concerned with defects.

Cant afford it? It only costs $50-70/wheel more for lighter wheels here in canada and thats brand new. Id also say 16" b/c I dont think you can get rubber in the right size so as not throw off your speedometer (sorry too lazy to work it out till I go to get my rims).
You want to know what happened, well here ya go: STUPID PEOPLE HAPPENEND and they screwed everything up.

I'd like to get 17" but I currently have 16x7" wheels (haven't put them on yet, waiting for tax money to do the suspension )

Will be dropping it to the point the arch is JUST above the tyre.

I ave an Exa wit 17s n im gettin it lowered next week..
I duno what to say bro, if u cant get light weight, my 17s where heavier but i didnt notice much.. infact ANY difference in performance to be honest!
17s look so much better, wit 205/40/17 tires your gona be lookin good...
If you get 16s you'll regret it i think
    Thats my opinion

By light rims I meant the likes of Volk TE37 or Buddy Club P1's and those are pretty $$ in Australia. You wouldn't find them 2nd hand either.

Hmm, I guess I'll just wait and see what comes along first.
